Comicsburgh Expands Distribution to Reach More Comic Book Stores

Independent comic book publisher Comicsburgh is expanding its distribution network through new partnerships with the Indie Comic Alliance and Philbo Distribution. Announced on October 23, 2026, the move is designed to help the publisher bring its creator-owned comics to more retailers.

The partnerships complement Comicsburgh’s existing distribution through Independent Publishers Group (IPG), which handles its trade paperbacks and graphic novels for bookstores and libraries.

A New Route to Comic Shops

Through the Indie Comic Alliance, Comicsburgh gains access to Universal Distribution and shared resources for printing, shipping and storage. The Philbo Distribution partnership provides another route for comic shops to order the publisher’s single-issue comics.

For independent publishers, reaching retailers can be a major challenge. Distribution affects how easily shops can order books, how efficiently publishers fulfil demand and whether new titles can find readers beyond their existing audience.

Why Creator-Owned Comics Matter

Comicsburgh was founded by comic creators D.P. Brown, Grant Lankard, Marvin Wynn and Manny Theiner. Its catalogue includes The Edge, Beowulf, The Theme of Thieves and Memoirs of the Morbid, covering several genres.

The publisher’s approach centres on original stories and creator ownership. Expanding distribution could help its creators reach more readers while retaining ownership of their work.

The announcement also reflects a wider challenge for the independent comics market: publishing a comic is only one part of the process. Getting it into stores and into readers’ hands is equally important.
